I’m with you on Rivals! I never read the book and I’m wondering how Rupert came across on paper. In the show he gives me the ick. I’d much rather bump uglies with Declan!
Yes I loved Declan, and Maud dramatically swishing around their mansion going YOU TRAPPED ME IN THIS HELLHOLE! Go to London and do the play Maud, it can’t be that far on the train. I also liked Lizzie.
Man Up (thé 2015 film with Simon Pegg) is a little gem - messy, funny and at times genuinely poignant. If you’ve not seen it yet, enjoy. The idea of your toddler haunting your poetry reading really made me laugh.
Hmmm, having re-watched (some of) it last night, apart from the very funny sex scene, it's as clunky as I remembered. I'm not sure Richard Curtis films are wearing all that well.
The scene in nobody wants this in slow mo when they walking into the bat mitzvah cracked me up so much. I really enjoyed how petty the sisters were. Thanks for the other recommendations. I’ve been looking for light and airy too. Love this round up,
I’ve also enjoyed Colin From Accounts, though its humour is dark at times. Amazing episode in the latest season where she loses her keys and has to wander the city all night. Not exactly romantic but I am still thinking about it.
a Thatcherite was always going to be difficult for me for boring political reasons (my grandad was a turner in the mining industry). I mean, MAYBE HE CAN CHANGE? I’m with Taggie 🦊
Going into my own comments section to yell that ‘Catastrophe’ is the greatest, along with everything Sharon Horgan touches, can’t believe I missed it out here.
I could not agree more and love yoooooou

Oh and I’ve not heard of Rye Lane but I’m interested in any chance to re-live my 20s in London. It’s on my watch list!

It was in a lovely echoey chapel, and let me tell you every sound CARRIED. I think it was designed so god could hear all your secrets
More “real worldy” London romcom, try THE TALL GUY from 1989. Emma Thompson and Jeff Goldblum. https://youtu.be/drZfdzPms1Y?si=Fob3UJ3ZavtMP4Lx

Oh, thank you for making me laugh, Becky.
By episode 3 I was totally rooting for Rupert & Taggie! I hope they get their act together 💗💗
